About the South West Coast Path
The modern day South West Coast Path is England’s longest waymarked footpath. It runs for 630 miles, from Minehead on the edge of Exmoor to the shores of Poole Harbour. It’s various segments are enjoyed by many millions of visitors throughout the year, who come to marvel at the natural scenery on offer. This is the true wonder of the South West connecting visitors with some of the finest coastal landscapes to be found anywhere in the world.
The South West Coast Path Association
The SWCPA is a charity that has been caring for the path since it was first created in 1973. It relies on memberships and donations to support, restore, improve and maintain the path as well as give voice to the communities it connects.
LUGGAGE TRANSFER SERVICE
We have also linked up with Luggage Transfer, who offer a drop-off and collection shuttle service for your bags.
Let somebody else do the heavy lifting
It’s simple, you walk the beautiful South West Coast Path and they’ll deliver your luggage to our reception at Freshwell – both cheaply and efficiently! When booking a pitch with us, just make sure we know by stating you having a Luggage Transfer arranged in the notes section.
How it works
One of their drivers will pick up your kit on the day of transfer and will have it safely dropped off at our reception usually by 4.30pm, where it is stored safely in time for your arrival. To book with them, just complete a baggage transfer enquiry and they will provide you with a quote. Once confirmed, your booking is placed and then allocated to their drivers. The average ‘per bag’ cost is £6.52. For 2 persons walking, the average cost is about £10, however it can be as low as £8.50, depending on the section of the path.
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT TO US
1 Night Stays
Many accommodations don’t allow 1 night stays which can be a challenge if you’re on a hiking trip. As outdoor enthusiasts ourselves we can understand this so will always offer single nights stays for solo or group travellers.
The Environment & Wildlife
Freshwell Camping resides in a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with some species of animal that are protected. We are proud of that and believe supporting organisations such as the South West Coast Path Association are a necessity to protect it.
Education
We would like to take the opportunity whilst you are staying in beautiful North Devon to inform guests about the South West Coast Path, the ANOB and walks locally that are well worth exploring
